First, visit Paro Dzong, a majestic fortress that overlooks the valley, followed by the National Museum, where you'll learn about Bhutan’s history, culture, and traditions. Finally, visit the Jangsa Dumtse Lhakhang, a serene temple with stunning views of the valley, providing an excellent introduction to Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage. Afterward, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
DAY 02: HIKE TO THE FAMED TIGER’S NEST
After an early breakfast, you will set out on the iconic hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, also known as Paro Taktsang. The uphill hike takes about 3-4 hours, but the effort is worth it. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava meditated here in the 8th century. Upon reaching the monastery, you can explore the sacred site with its awe-inspiring views of the surrounding cliffs and valley. After the visit, descend and drive to Paro, stopping en-route at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan dating back to the 7th century. Return to your hotel for the night.
DAY 03: HOTEL – SHARNA – THANGTHANKA 3570 m 16 km 07 hr
After an early breakfast, you'll drive to Sharna, where your trek begins. Cross a wooden bridge over the Pa Chhu River and start trekking through oak, pine, and rhododendron forests. The trail gradually ascends and leads to an alpine meadow, with occasional glimpses of Jomolhari’s summit if the weather is clear. The landscape becomes more dramatic as you move higher into the mountains. The day ends with a scenic campsite in a rolling meadow, perfect for stargazing and appreciating the beauty of nature.
DAY 04: THANGTHANKA – JANGOTHANG 4080 m 15 km 06 hr
Wake up early to witness the first light casting its glow on Jomolhari, one of Bhutan's most iconic peaks. The trail continues through alpine meadows and sparse forests, gradually leaving the tree line behind. As you pass yak herders' homes, you'll enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding peaks, including Jomolhari, Jichu Drakey, and Tsherimgang. DAY 05: JANGOTHANG HALT
After several days of trekking, today is a rest day at Jangothang. This gives you time to acclimatize to the altitude and enjoy the stunning views of Jomolhari. For those interested, a short hike to Tshophu Lake is a great option. The lake, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, offers breathtaking views of the mountains and a tranquil atmosphere. The crystal-clear waters of the lake, set against the backdrop of Jomolhari and other surrounding peaks, provide a perfect photo opportunity and a peaceful retreat to reflect on the journey so far.
DAY 06: JANGOTHANG – LINGSHI 4010 m 18 km 08 hr

After a challenging climb to the Nylila Pass (4860 m), the highest point of the trek, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. The campsite is located at the foot of the Dzong, offering magnificent views of the surrounding landscapes.
DAY 07: LINGSHI – SHODU 4105 m 20 km 09 hr
Today’s trek is long and challenging, starting with a descent through a beautiful open area before the steep ascent to Yelila Pass (4950 m), the second-highest point of the trek. The views from the pass are exceptional, with panoramic vistas of Jomolhari, Jichu Drakey, Tsherimgang, and Masagang. After the descent from the pass, the trail becomes more rugged, passing through rocky terrain until you reach Shodu, a quiet and peaceful campsite that provides a perfect rest for weary trekkers.
DAY 08: SHODU – BARSHONG 3690 m 16 km 06 hr
This section of the trek follows the Thimphu Chhu River, with the trail winding through dense forests of fir, birch, and juniper trees. Along the way, you’ll encounter a beautiful waterfall before continuing uphill to the ruins of Barshong Dzong. DAY 10: DOLAMKENCHOE – THIMPHU 2320 m 08 km 05 hr
The final day of your trek begins with a descent through forested areas, crossing several small ascents and descents before arriving at Dodena, the northernmost settlement of Thimphu. After bidding farewell to your trekking team, you’ll have the option to take a short hike to Cheri Goemba, a beautiful monastery founded in 1620 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. The hike offers stunning views of the valley below. Afterward, descend to the parking lot and drive to your hotel in Thimphu.
DAY 11: THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING – PARO 2250 m 55 km 01 hr
After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll explore Thimphu, Bhutan's bustling capital. The city is a blend of modern developments and traditional Bhutanese architecture. Visit the Changangkha Lhakhang, the National Memorial Chorten, the Giant Buddha Statue, and Dechen Phodrang Monastery.
